2 Tips to Make Your Cards Stand Out

You don’t need a ton of supplies to make great cards, you just need a couple of must-have tips to make them look stunning!  These cards were made with 2 colors of inks and 2 colors of cardstock!  Watch the video for lots of tips actually because I kept thinking of more to share!

What You Need To Make These Cards

Crum Cake

  • Card Base: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”
    • scored at 4 1/4” & folded

 

Granny Apple Green

  • Outside Layer: 4 7/8” x 3 3/8”
  • Inside Layer: 5 1/4” X 4”

 

Basic White

  • Outside Stamped Layer:
    • 4 3/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • Inside Stamped Layer:
    • 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
  • Strip to punch flowers (just cut a 2 ¼” strip off the short end of cardstock – 2 1/4″ x 8 1/2″)
  • Scrap for Greeting

2 Must-Have Tips

Creating stark contrast really makes your cards stand out whether you are doing that with color, textures or sizes.  Using a really skinny border contrasting the think margin on the card base makes it visually interesting.  Add some elements that cross over the thin layer into the thick and you have a stunning card!

Easily Customizable

You just need 2 colors of ink & 2 colors of cardstock!  Now use the same color of cardstock that you did for the leaves to create a layer.  Then choose a card base!

It’s incredibly easy to adjust this card because you just need to change up the two colors.  I made waaayyyy too many examples because I was having so much fun!

Color Combinations

Clockwise Left to Right:

All use a Crum Cake card base and the thin cardstock layer is the same color as the leaves. 

  • Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green
  • Real Red and Pool Party
  • Melon Mambo and Pretty Peacock
  • Calypso Coral and Granny Apple Green
  • Daffodil Delight and Garden Green

Clockwise Left to Right:

These cards have a Pebbled Path card base with Wild Wheat leaves and thin cardstock layer.

Don’t forget to pop flower on the back of your card and the envelope!

Colors: Soft Seafoam card base with Lemon Lime Twist and Pretty Peacock.

Pop a few flowers on the inside of your card, as well.

Left to Right:

Both cards are on a Pretty Peacock card base with the thin cardstock layer the same as the color of the leaves.
